We see it every Sunday during football season.
We have been cheering our beloved team on for hours. Our voices have been depleted to a whisper because to speak anymore would hurt. The players have left blood, sweat, and their physical energies on the field for "the love of the game" and for the fans. Then it happens...regardless of the score of the game. Players from both sides meet and greet one another after "battle" and exchange the usual "good game" and "how's your Mom and them" statements. At that very moment, you will see something very special take place. You will notice a small group of players congregate on or around the center logo of the field. This is not just a "meet and greet", it's a time for prayer.
The gladiators, in their exhaustion from a fierce football game, gather to kneel. They humble themselves and offer up to God their thanks for the ability to play this game we call football and to be able to feed their families doing something they love. They thank their God for their physical nature to play this game. They thank Him for keeping them safe from harm and they offer prayers for those who may not have been as fortunate on that day. They express their brotherhood, and their spirits are humbled at the throne of an awesome God.
Sunday is the Lord's Day, and these few that gather honor the one who made it all possible for them.
My friend Mike, at www.kansasviking.com, has been taking photos at the games he can make it to. He has captured some of these humbling moments for us to all appreciate the BIG PICTURE of our lives and the lives of these men who don our team colors each and every week.
We may claim to "bleed" our team colors, but there was one who bled crimson for us...and that's the only blood that matters.
If you have photos of prayer circles from your favorite team's games, please send them along and I will add them as I get them.
Email them to vikingsfanatic69@aol.com.
My hope for this page is to remind us to keep our perspective and to look beyond our hope of a Super Bowl and to a goal we can all achieve if we follow God and His Word.
